A few weekends ago, I made my way to western Massachusetts for the night. After a beautiful fall day spent watching college football followed by a delicious dinner, we woke up early on Sunday to head to MASS MoCa. MASS MoCa is one of my favorite museums (especially out of those that are semi-local). However, to be honest, the last time I visited, there were no exhibits that really piqued my interest (you can read more about that trip here).Read More
As I was researching what to do and see during our day in Provincetown, I was thrilled to discover it was home to a John Derian shop! John Derian is one of my all-time favorite stores, known for its storefront in the East Village in NYC.
Derian is most famous for his decoupage plates, trays and paper weights, that you can find decorating bookshelves, walls and nightstands all over the world. More than that though, he has an incredible eye for all things design. His shop is always filled to the brim with beautiful curiosities from unique vendors all over the world, making it practically impossible to leave without taking a little something home with you.Read More
Storm King Art Center is an outdoor sculpture park located about an hour north of NYC, in New Windsor, NY. It's been at the top of my bucket list of places to see near Boston so I'm ecstatic that I finally was able to make it happen! If you're traveling from Boston, Storm King is about three and a half hours away. Luckily, my grandparents live in Western Massachusetts so it made for the perfect day trip with their house as our home base.Read More
On Saturday morning, we woke up at the crack of dawn and caught the first ferry to Monhegan. For those who don't know, Monhegan is a tiny island only twelve nautical miles off the coast of Port Clyde. There are no cars, and it boasts a population of under 100 people. It has always been a destination for artists, who travel from all over to be inspired and try their hand at depicting its beautiful scenery. Eager to check it out, we boarded our quaint little boat and sipped our hot coffees as we raced the rising sun across the ocean.Read More
Last weekend, my grandmother, mother and I, headed on a day trip to check out New Preston, Connecticut. My grandmother, being the design savvy and chic woman that she is, had read about this tiny town and thought it would be worth checking out. Although small in size, New Preston packs a punch with it's well curated little block of shops, located just around the corner from rows of understatedly chic cabins teetering on the lake.Read More
