Lately, I've been steering away from brass hardware, which has quickly become very trendy. It's sister (or perhaps brother), black hardware, has become much more appealing to me and is quickly gaining the same notoriety.
I love the way the matte, black works in all-white spaces, whether it's with subway tiles, carrara marble, or Moroccan tiles. It gives the space an edge but in a way that is clean, modern, and will stand the test of time. I'm all about contrast and I find that using black hardware adds just enough to create a little extra interest, without going overboard.
This look also works beautiful in kitchens, especially contrasting with white, simple cabinetry. I'm thinking about getting some modern black cabinet knobs for my own kitchen (cough cough or excuse for one), and am hoping it helps to jazz it up a bit.
