After taking in every possible detail of my dream house in this month's Elle Decor, I noticed a repeating element: painted checkerboard floors (in the bar and bathroom). I then came to the realization that I really like painted checkerboard floors. It's the perfect combination of rustic meets classic and it's a whole lot of awesome sauce.
I love how it adds a pop of graphic design in an unexpected way, providing a great foundation to layer upon. I especially like the way it looks on sort of beat up wooden floors. It serves the same function as painting the floor, but with a little bit more charm and interest. What do you think...would you do it?
