Last weekend was the perfect fall weekend. The weather was just barely crisp and the sun was shining. As you know, going apple picking was on the top of my fall bucket list so I was happy that my friend Fi, was on board.
I grew up in Harvard, MA, where there's not much going on besides apple orchards, a general store and a few churches. It was the best place to grow up and I jump at the chance to head back whenever I can. Our house was surrounded by apple orchards and it was pretty much the quintessential place to grow up. Every fall, we would go out and pick apples for pies and press our own apple cider.
Some of the orchards surrounding our house were owned by Carlson's. Carlson Orchards is the king of apple orchards in Harvard, and their farm stand is located right down the road from my old house. In fact I have very strong memories of sneaking into the fields and stealing apples in my youth (sorry mom).
Walking around the orchards, we happened upon some raspberry bushes as well...and couldn't help grabbing a handful.
When we pulled into the center of town, it was hoppin. I obviously knew this wasn't normal, and then I remembered it was the Harvard Flea Market. This was one of my ALL TIME favorite events as a young kiddo. I'd save up my allowance (a whopping $10 a month), to buy necklaces and jewelry my mother would never approve of (like dangly earrings). We headed over to check it out and perused for a little while before heading back to Concord.
If you're looking for a good post to go apple picking, look no further than Carlson Orchards!
