This week my mom, brother, and I met up for coffee at Cafe Madeleine. It's a relatively new spot in the South End and after hearing nothing but rave reviews, we decided to check it out.
It's nestled on the corner and is very small, with only 5 counter perches to eat your goodies. The interior is very clean and pretty, all grey and white, with some fabulous floor tiling (see below). They whip up traditional French pastries and desserts every day and they are delicious.
There was no food menu when we walked in, so under the impression that everything was out we stuck with pastries. Later, I saw them take out a separate menu for a customer filled with French sandwiches and more savory items.
Our pastries were perfectly done and really tasty, and my cappuccino was creamy and frothy just the way I like it. My only wish is that they posted the other items available more visibly. That being said, if you're perusing the South End and in need of a spot to grab breakfast, I recommend stopping in. You can also call ahead and order cakes and my sources say they are devilishly delicious.
