This weekend, Marie, Megan and I jetted (drove) up to Maine for a ladies weekend. After a lot of traveling and spending time with men, it was nice to sit back and relax with the gals. The Samoset Resort in Rockland, ME was hosting an ice bar event which we gladly attended, sipping on cold cocktails while perched on fur covered thrones of ice. I'll be sure to post some more photos from our various travels up, down, and around the state this week.
More pressing however, is yesterday's lunch. Duckfat is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. One of the many perks of going to school in Maine was that it was easy to meet friends and family from Mass in Portland for the day. What this really means is some shopping sandwiched around a meal at Duckfat.
They have delicious paninis, salads, soups, and most importantly: duckfat fries. Oh baby are they good. You can choose from a variety of dipping sauces such as truffel ketchup, lemon-herb mayo, thai chili mayo and many more. They arrive served up in a big paper cone, piping hot from the fryer. You can dig into these to start, paired with an ice cold local beer, or one of their delicious all natural sodas (we tried the grape). Once you're ready to move onto the main course, you can select from a delicious and well crafted selection of perfectly cooked paninis and salads filled with local ingredients. Check out there menu here and make sure to stop in next time you're in Maine!
