I popped into the Hedgerow before work yesterday to see what all the fuss was about. It was definitely well worth it. Julie, one of the two owners, is an incredibly smart and nice lady and was more than welcoming. They specialize in landscape design and gardening but they also have a small market of vegetables and other goods that they grow there.
Besides just organic vegetables, Hedgerow also gets products from other well known, local vendors. They carry a lot of meals from Green Bean Catering, which is where we grabbed food for our sunset cruise. Green Bean Catering has all organic, healthy salads and sandwiches. We chose a black bean salad, corn, cucumber and cherry tomato salad, and some sesame noodles which were all delicious and made us feel semi-healthy. They also have bagels from The Bagel Shack and breads from the Atlantic baking Company in Rockland. I will be stopping here an obsessive amount considering I'm kitchen-less for the month.
After stopping in the main building, you can explore the gardens and go out back where there is a little gardening hut as well as a small, one room gallery. Also, if you go down the little path to the right of the main building you'll find some pretty awesome chickens. It's all beautifully landscaped and fun to explore all the pathways and corners.
