My wonderful and talented Gram stopped into the gallery today to teach me a thing or two about flower arranging. In my opinion, flowers make everything better and they can really make a space. It's important to choose your flowers and style of arranging to fit with the space that you intend to show them. I love how Gram's style is more organic- she's not afraid to leave spaces or have imperfections. She tries to arrange in a way that you would find the flowers naturally, so it looks like a garden. She found everything around our yard, and some of the plants she chose are just weeds or not necessarily anything special, but they add dimension and texture. She claims to be no expert but I watched her as she made the gorgeous arrangement below, now sitting on the porch of the gallery.
After looking around pinterest, here are some images that remind me of this idea of choosing unusual plants, and arranging them in a more organic fashion. Not everything has to be perfect, flowers can be flopping over the sides and sticking up too high, it's what makes it fun.
