Yesterday I met my grandparents at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, ME. I was always embarassed that after attending college in Maine for four years and working at the Colby Art Museum, I had never visited before. Its a small museum which I love because you can see it all without feeling overwhelmed- we only went for a little over an hour. The main(e) (haha) attraction is the large collection of Wyeth pieces. The Wyeth center is located in an old Methodist church and is really beautiful on the inside with light green wooden floors and beamed ceilings. I'm not a huge fan of the Wyeth's work but I really loved all of Andrew Wyeth's studies for his bigger works.
I illegally snagged some pictures of Wyeth's studies. Above is my personal favorite and I love it much more than the finished product he made. I love the way her head is turned away from us and we just see her blonde hair. Those red rain boots and amazing black coat really make it though.
