Interesting interior design discovery in the gallery today. These are old dust corners from when the house was first built. They were used to stop dust from building up in the corners of the stairs and to make sweeping easier. Apparently they became popular in the later 19th and 20th centuries and went out of style when more people started carpeting their stairs. Wouldn’t these be awesome in a more modern house with a dark black staircase? I could see them in a brass or bronze finish with a leopard runner!
