Oh peanut blossoms. Be still my heart. The perfect combination of chocolate and peanut butter, wrapped up in a perfectly moist, chewy and delicious cookie. Now these may not be the most complicated or glamorous of cookies, but don't (I repeat DO NOT) write them off. They are the best comfort cookie around and are sure to wow any crowd you make them for. This is my Grandmother's recipe-- who is a baking and cooking maven and is the queen of comforting and delicious foods. What could be better than Grandma's peanut blossoms? Nothing I tell you, nothing. It's safe to say I am thankful for these this Thanksgiving. So if you've got crowds of relatives piling in early tomorrow and are in need of a tasty treat to keep them calm and quiet, I recommend whipping up a batch of these. Scroll down for the recipe.
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
1/2 cup shortening or butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
48 hershey candy kisses
1. Combine all ingredients. Mic on low speed until dough forms.
2. Shape dough into balls using hands or rounded teaspoon. Roll balls in white sugar and place on un-greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
3. Unwrap kisses so they are ready to go. Remove cookies from oven and immediately top each cookie with a candy kiss. Press down firmly so cookie cracks around edge.
