It was freezing yesterday. So after a fairly productive day, it was time to hunker down. I built a fire and whipped up some of these warm concoctions. It seems like everyone is coming down with colds right about now and hot toddies are the perfect remedy for all of your symptoms. They also happen to be the perfect before-bed drink as they pretty much conk you out. PLUS, they are as easy as can be to create. The classic hot toddy is hot water, whiskey, lemon and usually some spices. So for a fall/Thanksgiving spin on this classic, I decided to add a dash of apple cider as well. Scroll down for the recipe.
Ingredients (for one cocktail):
1 Tea bag (black or green)
1 ounce Bourbon (I used Whiskey...this may be frowned upon but I didn't have Bourbon on hand)
1 ounce Apple cider (spiced or unspiced)
Cloves or anise
1. Heat the water until boiling. Pour the hot water over the teabag, leaving about a third of room. Let the tea steep for a minute or two then remove.
2. Add the bourbon and apple cider (you can vary the amount of each depending on your tastes). Squeeze the juice of half a lemon to finish it off. Garnish with thinly sliced lemon, cinnamon stick and cloves or anise. Enjoy by the fire!
