Walking through Brooklyn, I was blown away by how much amazing street art there was. I hadn't been since I was little so I'm not sure if I was just unaware of it when I was last there or if there has been a resurgence as of late.
I eventually had to stop walking around to look at it all because dinner was fast approaching and my feet were in an absurd amount of pain (hello blisters). I mean you don't even have to hunt for it-- I kept catching glimpses of murals out of the corner of my eye everywhere I turned. This resulted in a very zigzagged path through Brooklyn because I essentially kept going off route to look at more street art.
I've always been a fan of mixed-media art as well as graffiti and just love the mix of harsh, foreign looking marks, with plastered on ads, bits of script, and hauntingly unusual imagery. I also love how it interacts with the street, whether it's surrounded by trees, bricks, concrete, fire hydrants, cars, etc. -- it makes the art more interesting.
